“Timing is everything, in education as in many other fields. It’s not enough to teach well. You have to teach well to kids who are ready to learn, kids who are developmentally ‘ripe’ for learning.”

BTT: Author's Blogs

Do you read any author’s blogs? If so, are you looking for information on their next project? On the author personally? Something else?

There are a few authors whose websites I read every now and then. Most of them it is just to see if they have any new projects in the works, or if one of their books are going to be made into a movie. The only one that I always read is Stephenie Meyer. I have her on my blog roll, and while the movie Twilight was being made it was fun to see all the things that she had on her blog in relation to the movie. It was always the quickest way to see new photos, or find out new info about the movies. They usually have a link if there is a news article or magazine article. It should be fun to see what they put on the site about the New Moon movie.

She also gives book recommendations every now and then. A couple of weeks ago she recommended the book The Girl Who Could Fly by Victoria Forester. I have Stephenie Meyer's site on my blog roll, so I saw the new post almost right away. Well, I put it on hold at the library, and it was available a couple of days later. When I picked up the book (a few days after she posted the recommendation on her blog) the librarian said I could only have the book for two weeks, instead of the typical three, because the book was a "hot item" and had a lot of requests. I was one of the first people to request it I guess, but I went and looked online, and the book had 43 requests at one library - all because Stephenie Meyer recommended it. lol. Victoria Forester better be grateful!
